Clean Water Connections:
Law, History, Science, and Communities

2012-13 Symposium
Monday, February 25, 2013
Benjamin Banneker Room, Adele H. Stamp Student Union
University of Maryland, College Park

The 2012-13 Maryland Water Symposium focuses on Environmental Law and the Social Sciences. Marking the 40th anniversary of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 -- better known as the Clean Water Act (CWA) -- the symposium will provide an overview of the CWA's enactment, implementation, and status. Speakers with expertise in sociology, anthropology, and economics will contribute their perspectives on how communities are affected by, and respond to, environmental challenges and proposed or prescribed solutions.

This symposium will be of interest to environmentally-minded students in all fields of study, to scientists and engineers interested in learning about the societal context of their work, and to any water resources researchers and practitioners interested in understanding and building connections among all the sciences.
